China's refractories industry standardization process accelerated

Policy Update: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the “Key Points of Industry and Information Technology Standard Work in 2025” on April 10, which makes it clear that it will accelerate the development of standards for emerging industries, including technical specifications in the field of refractories, and plans to add more than 1,800 new industry standards within the year, and to set up more than 5 standardization technology organizations. The plan is to add more than 1,800 industry standards and form more than 5 standardization technology organizations within the year.

Industry impact: this move will promote the optimization of refractory production process and green transformation, and enhance China's technical discourse in the global industrial chain.

 

EU Suspends Trade Countermeasures Against U.S.

International Movements: The EU announced a 90-day suspension of its countermeasures against the US tariff increase from April 11, leaving a window for negotiations between the two sides. This decision may ease the pressure on cross-border trade of industrial raw materials such as refractories and reduce supply chain costs.

Companies responded: European refractory companies said they would accelerate their export business of high-end refractory products to the U.S. if progress is made in the negotiations.

 

The Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) reiterated its position on international trade

Official Stance: On April 11, China's Ministry of Commerce responded to the recent international trade friction by saying “talk, the door is open; fight, accompany to the end”, emphasizing that it will safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of China's manufacturing industry, including refractory materials. 

Market Expectations: Industry analysts believe that China's refractory export policy (such as licensed export requirements) or become one of the focus of future international trade negotiations.
