New energy and powder calcination

It is generally single-deck structure on tunnel kiln, and double-deck or three-deck structure on shuttle kiln, with cordierite-mullite hollow pillar and silicon carbide beam to build the main kiln structure, cordierite–mullite hollow shelf are used above the kiln car base. Due to the heavy single weight of the crucible and the long firing cycle, the kiln furniture used needs to have advantages of high-temperature flexural strength and creep resistance. The cordierite-mullite materials have become the popular materials for kiln furniture used in the photovoltaic industry in the world.

The positive electrode material is the core key material of lithium-ion batteries. The positive electrode powder material is usually calcined by high-temperature solid-phase method, with a firing temperature range of 800-1300 ℃, mostly between 750-1150 ℃, and a firing cycle of about 18-24 hours. Lithium battery powder is placed in a saggar, which is then placed on a roller base or push plate and enters a roller kiln or pusher kiln for calcination.

The Saggar is the most important kiln furniture used for calcination of lithium battery powder.  The commonly used square saggars are 320X320mm or 330X330mm, and a height of 60-160mm. Due to the large amount of water vapor emitted during the calcination of some lithium battery powders and the short firing cycle, and the inner surface of the saggar contacts with the powder with strong alkalinity directly, the main damage to the sagger is its erosion and deterioration, which makes it prone to cracking when subjected to repeated thermal shocks.
