PRODUCTS IN DETAIL
Kiln furniture refers to refractory products that are recycled in industrial kilns to support or protect the calcined products.
Structural kiln furniture
Structural kiln furniture is an important part of industrial kilns. When in service, the temperature inside the furnace is high, and it is in direct contact with the gas flame or radiated heat from the heating element. It usually bears a load heavier than itself, or even several times its weight, without deformation or fracture. This requires it to have a certain high-temperature mechanical strength and good thermal shock stability.
Sintering containers
Special kiln tools for supporting the firing of ceramic bodies, or saggers for holding powders (calcination and synthesis of positive electrode materials, magnetic powders, high-purity ceramic materials, etc.) for heat treatment in roller kilns, pusher kilns, and tunnel kilns. Such kiln tools will be subjected to different heating conditions according to the firing process of the manufacturer. The material of such products depends on the type of sintered body and the heat treatment process.
Characteristics of kiln furniture:
(1) Good thermal shock resistance and mechanical properties at room temperature and high temperature.
(2) Good thermal conductivity and air permeability.
(3) High load softening temperature and refractoriness. Its load softening temperature is required to be 50~100℃ higher than the firing temperature of the fired product.
(4) Light weight, low heat storage, accurate size and good regularity.
Kiln furniture material types:
● Cordierite-Mullite: Cordierite and mullite are the main crystal phases, and the operating temperature is below 1310℃;
● High alumina: The alumina content is more than 46%, and it is used at less than 1450℃;
● Mullite: The main crystal phase is mullite, which is composed of 10% kaolin and 90% synthetic mullite. It is used at 1400~1500℃ and has high strength;
● Silicon carbide and recrystallized silicon carbide: Silicon carbide is characterized by excellent thermal shock resistance, high strength, and an operating temperature below 1400℃; the short-term operating temperature of recrystallized silicon carbide can reach 1650℃; the long-term operating temperature of the "silicon carbide combined with silicon nitride" refractory material formed when silicon carbide is bound by silicon nitride can reach up to 1550℃.
