Zirconia is a fine ceramic material with high mechanical strength and fracture toughness. It is widely used in the manufacture of blades, scissors and other cutting tools, as well as parts for pumps and fluid handling equipment. In addition, zirconia has important applications in high temperature and corrosive environments in the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries due to its excellent thermal and chemical stability.
Properties :
1.Excellent mechanical properties and applications
High Strength and Fracture Toughness: Zirconia's strength and toughness far exceed many traditional ceramic materials. This allows it to remain stable when subjected to impact and stress, reducing the possibility of fracture.
2. Excellent thermal insulation and low thermal conductivity
Zirconium oxide also has excellent thermal insulation properties, and its thermal conductivity is much lower than other ceramic materials.
Low thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity of zirconium oxide is only one-tenth of some other common ceramic materials. This property makes it very useful in applications that require thermal insulation or heat preservation.
Application of zirconia ceramics in the field of structural ceramics and functional ceramics:
1. Zirconia ceramic bearings
Zirconium oxide full ceramic bearings are wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, cold-resistant, oil-free and self-lubricating, and anti-magnetic and electrical insulating, and can be used in extremely harsh environments and special working conditions.
2. Zirconia Ceramic Valves
For valves, the complex climatic conditions of the pipeline work; the presence of hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and certain organic acids in media such as oil, natural gas and reservoir water increase the destructive force on the surface, causing it to quickly lose its working ability. Zirconia ceramic valves have excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance, and are competent in this field.
3. Zirconia grinding materials
Zirconium oxide grinding balls have high hardness, low wear rate, and long service life. They can greatly reduce the pollution of grinding raw materials and can well ensure product quality. At the same time, zirconium oxide materials have high density and strong impact energy when used as grinding media, which can greatly improve grinding and dispersion efficiency. Good chemical stability determines its corrosion resistance and can be used in acidic and alkaline media.
4. Zirconia high temperature heating element
Zirconium oxide is an insulating material at room temperature, with a specific resistivity of up to 1015Ω·cm. It can conduct electricity when the temperature rises to 600℃, and is a good conductor above 1000℃. It can be used as a 1800℃ high temperature heating element, and the maximum operating temperature can reach 2400℃. It has been successfully used in heating elements and equipment in oxidizing atmospheres above 2000℃.
